[When the communicator switches on you get a zoom in on a lot of blonde hair. It takes a couple of seconds for Kara to move so you get to see her face instead of only her hair.]

Right, sorry. I don't usually use phones I like face-to-face better- but anyway. I have a couple of questions. And most of them sound pretty much like 'what is this and why am I here'.

[She frowns, one hand on her hip.]

So can we start with getting those two out of the way? Okay, thanks to whoever answers. I mean I know I’m probably being kidnapped for ransom but who’s actually stupid enough to kidnap Supergirl of all people and expects to get away with it. Luthor, I swear if it it’s you…

Speaking of Supers, I’d also like to know what on Argon happened-

[And she pauses, wrinkling her nose. She’s not stupid enough to let it show she is almost powerless out of the blue to people she doesn’t even know, so she switched mid-sentence.]

…to my parents and my cousin. You see, I was in the middle of a family reunion, and I don’t know if bad guys get many of those but ‘sorry I was busy getting kidnapped’ will prooobably not work with my mom.

So, to summarize: Where am I, why am I here, and whose butts do I have to kick to get back to my family?

I don't want them messing with my powers. Is this a sun thing? If it's the- the suns in the port that might affect my abilities I could stay inside. Having a few of them it's better than not having any or having them go overboard.

[She'd gone training to planet with red sun with Kal once. It was really not an experience she'd like to repeat.]

And I don't think I like how crashing into another reality sounds either. Or turning into animals... how am I supposed to 'redeem myself' if things like those keep happening?

What else do you do when you haven't got a choice?

It's complicated. My cousin was already called 'Superman' so I kind of... it felt like I had to live up to his legacy you know?

Your cousin is called 'Superman?' What an interesting family you must have. [Said dryly.]

It depends. We've been to Earths - or planets, anyway - that have a yellow sun, but inmates' powers were still dampened. Sometimes they do it for wardens, too, and there's no way to know in advance, usually. I wouldn't swear off ports entirely, though, you can get pretty stir crazy just hanging around here without a break.

And you'd be surprised. The system does work, and sometimes the stuff we go through is pretty good at bringing up issues people otherwise might not talk about. [Also he's not 100% positive why you'd be an inmate in the first place, so. There's that.]

[ She is there fast, and the first thing she does once inside is throw her arms around Kara. ]

Kara? [ Her hands linger a moment logner, clasping the other girl's arms just below her shoulder. ] This might be a weird question, but what's the last thing you remember from home?

What brings you to the Barge?

I know I'm an inmate and this is a prison... and that I'm supposed to redeem myself. I'm not even sure why though- but I guess I will have to try.

[She sighs, pulling some hair behind her ears.]

Dick told me about the floods, and I know there are some people in here I know- but that they aren't exactly the ones I know? OH and I know I can find a job. I'm already trying to find one in the science department.

How long have people been here? Is there really no way out?

You get up to a year, I've heard, more in some cases. The only way out is graduation or just... disappearing, but no one's quite sure how that happens.

I don't like it any more than you do, believe me.

I guess. But that still doesn't explain who are you, or why do you know so much.

Or what are you doing with her file, even.

Alright. Most important is floods, breaches and ports. Breaches are like uber floods. Ports sound nice, but it almost always goes bad. So next time we go to port, bring anything you might need to survive.

As for the inmate thing, probably if you get assigned a warden they'll be able to figure it out. We get files, so we know what we're dealing with. And... well, you'll have to talk to your warden about your powers. Nobody else can do that for you.

You get the barge speech yet?

[She almost reminds her he's dead, but... just... looks down.] Willow.

[And after being inside of a pod in space for more than 30 years spending too much time in the same place makes her restless, so her resolution to stay inside will not last long.

If I don't want to talk about them I won't. Are they going to try to act like Clark on me? Yes, I have issues. I can handle them just fine.

[She was liking the hug, so she's a little reluctant to let her go.]

Uhm... I was- I got healed from Kryptonite Poisoning. Why?

Oh, no insult intended. [Mostly. Smarmy or snarky are just his default conversational styles.]

The House of El. Is it a distinguished House, then?

[He's curious about her. The name Supergirl doesn't mean anything to him (pop-culture ignorant alien that he is), but finding out more about her family might tell him more about who she is and where she comes from.]

I have no idea. I'm an inmate apparently, I woke up here in this creepy room and was told I need to work on my issues and redeem myself.

Whatever that means.

They hadn't dealt with me before. They don't know what they got themselves into.

[She sighs rather loudly. She can do that now that her ice breath is so she can only drop the temperature in the room a few grades, at the most.]

And what do I do while I wait for an assigned warden? Because I wasn't kidding when I said my mother wouldn't be happy about me skipping the family reunion. And if you think you know what an angry mother is you have never seen a Kryptonian one.

Uh, yeah. I know this place is a prison of some kind and everything.
