[When the communicator switches on you get a zoom in on a lot of blonde hair. It takes a couple of seconds for Kara to move so you get to see her face instead of only her hair.]

Right, sorry. I don't usually use phones I like face-to-face better- but anyway. I have a couple of questions. And most of them sound pretty much like 'what is this and why am I here'.

[She frowns, one hand on her hip.]

So can we start with getting those two out of the way? Okay, thanks to whoever answers. I mean I know I’m probably being kidnapped for ransom but who’s actually stupid enough to kidnap Supergirl of all people and expects to get away with it. Luthor, I swear if it it’s you…

Speaking of Supers, I’d also like to know what on Argon happened-

[And she pauses, wrinkling her nose. She’s not stupid enough to let it show she is almost powerless out of the blue to people she doesn’t even know, so she switched mid-sentence.]

…to my parents and my cousin. You see, I was in the middle of a family reunion, and I don’t know if bad guys get many of those but ‘sorry I was busy getting kidnapped’ will prooobably not work with my mom.

So, to summarize: Where am I, why am I here, and whose butts do I have to kick to get back to my family?

I don't hurt others- I'm Supergirl! I try to help others that's my whole thing!

But if that Admiral is the one who send us here you bet they will be hurting soon.

Unfortunately, the Admiral has never been known to make a mistake.

And if the Admiral could be gotten to by one of us, he would have been by now.

So if this isn't a mistake but I have no idea why am I here what am I supposed to do? Sit down and wait?

For a warden to be assigned to you. The Admiral gives them a file with the information required to graduate you... for what it's worth, I haven't heard of any inmate asking him directly for a file, but he doesn't always listen to requests.

Even if he doesn't respond, you could get a job in the kitchen, maintenance, gym, library, garden or as a lab assistant if you have a scientific bent, if rest on your laurels doesn't suit you.

[Now those are words that pick her interest. Always a science girl like her dad, and if she has to spend some time in here... there's nothing wrong in learning and using her skills for something useful, right?]

How do I get those jobs?

Ask a warden. What are your interests?

Science! Put me in a lab and I will be right at home.

[He chuckles.] What is your field? And yes, I am.

Well, dad focused on genetics and medicine. I wanted to get into that as well but I was too young.

Can you help me get that job then?

I can oversee you, if you wish.

If I'm going to be stuck in here- and by the looks of it it's going to be a while... I better get a job as fast as I can to distract myself, right?

So sure! If you can.

Absolutely, whenever you're free, I can take you up to the lab and start.

I'm apparently going to have a looot of free time in the future.

[A confident smirk.] Not if I have anything to say.

I'm my universe's original scientist, I think I can challenge you.

Being born billions of years ago, when magic was… enforced. There was no science.

So you're billions of years old?

[A pause. Well, she's seen weirder.]

Uh, okay. Looking good.

Thank you, but the body isn't mine, it's the Doctor's. I copied his biodata. My own... was gone a long time ago. [He doesn't even know when it was destroyed and it's well, how anyone would feel about losing their body and somehow not noticing.]

Wait hold on- that's like, awesome. How did you manage that?

And doesn't he feel weirded out that there's someone out there with a copy of their body?

Well, it took a few centuries, but I figured it out.

It's awkward, of course. We've made peace with it now, though.

I don't think I'd have made peace with somebody wearing a copy of my body. Then again my other cousin is a clone... so that's a little hypocritical.

[rass_bestie]

Well, it wasn't easy. And we made peace here, while I was an inmate. And we're Time Lords, so through regeneration, we get new bodies each time we die.

And, in due course, I will restore my previous body and let the Doctor have his own.

Wow... your world must be really weird if you can do stuff like that without even a second thought.
