[When the communicator switches on you get a zoom in on a lot of blonde hair. It takes a couple of seconds for Kara to move so you get to see her face instead of only her hair.]

Right, sorry. I don't usually use phones I like face-to-face better- but anyway. I have a couple of questions. And most of them sound pretty much like 'what is this and why am I here'.

[She frowns, one hand on her hip.]

So can we start with getting those two out of the way? Okay, thanks to whoever answers. I mean I know I’m probably being kidnapped for ransom but who’s actually stupid enough to kidnap Supergirl of all people and expects to get away with it. Luthor, I swear if it it’s you…

Speaking of Supers, I’d also like to know what on Argon happened-

[And she pauses, wrinkling her nose. She’s not stupid enough to let it show she is almost powerless out of the blue to people she doesn’t even know, so she switched mid-sentence.]

…to my parents and my cousin. You see, I was in the middle of a family reunion, and I don’t know if bad guys get many of those but ‘sorry I was busy getting kidnapped’ will prooobably not work with my mom.

So, to summarize: Where am I, why am I here, and whose butts do I have to kick to get back to my family?

Does he treat you right? I can kick his as for you if he doesn't when he comes back. Because he will come back, right?

[ She's about to assure Kara that he treats her very well and she couldn't possibly ask for a better boyfriend, but the next question has her deflating like an untied balloon. ]

I really don't know. He might not.

[Kara's power to make the worst questions at the worst possible moments still works. Yay.]

I'm sorry, Steph. How long had you been dating?

Going on two months. [ She huffs. ]

I'm sorry, it's totally rude of me to be whining about my boyfriend when you've just been kidnapped to an interdimensional prison barge.

NO! I mean-

[She pulls her into another hug, she's gonna get a lot of these.] I have time to recover and everything. I will have time to get everything explained to me, don't worry about that.

Do people usually come back?

[ Steph's pretty okay with that right now. ]

Normally if they're gone for good, their warden will be able to tell you. But Kon's is in a coma right now.

[She nods, frowning a bit]

...Why is he in a coma? Does that happen often?

Yeah. It just sort of... happens, sometimes. People will fall asleep for days or weeks or months.

And nobody knows why? Or how long it usually takes?

There's no real standard, it's different for everyone. All we can do is take them down to the infirmary and wait.

Is Kon there then? The infirmary?

Can I see him?

No, he's... gone. Disappeared. Just not here anymore.

[She flops down to the ground. She was hoping to at least be able to see him-]

It will be fine, he will be back soon. And I will see what makes him different than my Kon.

Yeah. [ She takes a deep breath and smiles. ]

I'll warn you though, I think alternate you punched him in the face and bailed.

...Uh, did I ever tell you how Kon and I first met?

[ She snorts. ]

No, actually, it didn't come up.

I was- I was in a bad place, emotionally. I was trying to find a family to get close to, and Kon was of course an option.

Buuuut I caught him in a bad moment and we punched the hell out of each other.

Oh. Ouch. But you guys are friends now, right?

Ouch indeed.

[She nods.] Yeah, family sticks together and all that. So this Kon and I will get alone all the same, right?

Here's hoping. [ That he comes back, that they get along, that everything works out in the end. ]
