[When the communicator switches on you get a zoom in on a lot of blonde hair. It takes a couple of seconds for Kara to move so you get to see her face instead of only her hair.]

Right, sorry. I don't usually use phones I like face-to-face better- but anyway. I have a couple of questions. And most of them sound pretty much like 'what is this and why am I here'.

[She frowns, one hand on her hip.]

So can we start with getting those two out of the way? Okay, thanks to whoever answers. I mean I know I’m probably being kidnapped for ransom but who’s actually stupid enough to kidnap Supergirl of all people and expects to get away with it. Luthor, I swear if it it’s you…

Speaking of Supers, I’d also like to know what on Argon happened-

[And she pauses, wrinkling her nose. She’s not stupid enough to let it show she is almost powerless out of the blue to people she doesn’t even know, so she switched mid-sentence.]

…to my parents and my cousin. You see, I was in the middle of a family reunion, and I don’t know if bad guys get many of those but ‘sorry I was busy getting kidnapped’ will prooobably not work with my mom.

So, to summarize: Where am I, why am I here, and whose butts do I have to kick to get back to my family?

[ There isn't a response, because now Steph is sprinting and jumping over staircase railings to get to her room. ]

[And Kara will just wait, hovering around her room. It feels weird to fly, as if he was heavier... but she likes being on air when she's nervous.]

[ Knock knock, Kara. Steph rolls back and forth on her heels in her excitement. ]

[She has enough of her x-ray vision left to be able to see her through the door if she concentrates, so she's quick to open the door.

Aaand pull her into a hug before asking anything.]

[ She wouldn't have it any other way. Steph gives her a big squeeze. ]

It's so great to see you, Kara, you don't even know.

It's great to see you too, this place is giving me the creeps. Are you going to explain what this is all about now?

Yeah, yeah. [ She starts to disentangle herself. ]

So okay, what do you know so far?

I know I'm an inmate and this is a prison... and that I'm supposed to redeem myself. I'm not even sure why though- but I guess I will have to try.

[She sighs, pulling some hair behind her ears.]

Dick told me about the floods, and I know there are some people in here I know- but that they aren't exactly the ones I know? OH and I know I can find a job. I'm already trying to find one in the science department.

Alright. Most important is floods, breaches and ports. Breaches are like uber floods. Ports sound nice, but it almost always goes bad. So next time we go to port, bring anything you might need to survive.

As for the inmate thing, probably if you get assigned a warden they'll be able to figure it out. We get files, so we know what we're dealing with. And... well, you'll have to talk to your warden about your powers. Nobody else can do that for you.

[She sighs rather loudly. She can do that now that her ice breath is so she can only drop the temperature in the room a few grades, at the most.]

And what do I do while I wait for an assigned warden? Because I wasn't kidding when I said my mother wouldn't be happy about me skipping the family reunion. And if you think you know what an angry mother is you have never seen a Kryptonian one.

[ Shiver. But hey, she knows the feeling. ]

Well, the good news is, time is stopped for you while you're here. Nobody will know you were gone.

The bad news is, you're probably going to be stuck here a while and there isn't a whole lot in the way of entertainment. Or, you know, sanity.

[When Steph says that she realizes there's a crucial question she hasn't asked yet.]

Wait, how long have you been here? Are you one of the Wardens?

Yeah, I am. [ Ha ha why does she feel vaguely embarrassed by that what has her life become? ]

It's been about two years. Give or take.

Wait what?! So I could stay in here for two whole years?!

Most inmates aren't here that long. But yeah, you could be here pretty much until the Admiral gets bored with you.

Oh man, this sucks.

[She sighs, sitting on air.] ...But at least I get a cool room meanwhile. How's your room?

Same as it was back home. [ She shrugs. ] You've seen it. Only now there's an easy bake oven.

Easy being the keyword, I'm guessing.

Were you an inmate before? I'm still confused about the fact that I'm a prisoner.

No, I'm pretty confused about that too. But it's happening to people I know a lot lately. Kon's an inmate, only he's gone, Babs isn't Babs and she's an inmate, I'm going to stop being surprised eventually.

What happened to him? People told me he was in here- is he alright? Did something happen to him? Kal wouldn't forgive me if he got hurt...

I... have no clue what you just said, but he's not the Kon you know either. And he's gone right now. Just. Gone. And he's sorta my boyfriend, so it really sucks.

It's the family- it doesn't matter did you just said boyfriend wait wait are you dating my cousin that isn't really my cousin? Why didn't you tell me?!

[ She holds her hands up in surrender, a silly smile on her face. ]

You just got here! I was getting to it. I got to it. There.

[She holds her hands together]

Does he treat you right? I can kick his as for you if he doesn't when he comes back. Because he will come back, right?
